EVM Tampering: Election Commission to hold all-party meeting on May 12

New Delhi: The Election Commision of India has called an all-party meeting on May 12 to discuss the issues regarding the tampering of the Electronic Voting Machines.

The EC said that all the allegations made by the opposition parties will be discussed in the meeting and they will also assure that the EVMs cannot be hacked.

Seven national parties and 49 state parties are invited in the meeting.

The official said, "A meeting has been called on May 12 of the political parties over the alleged charges of EVM tampering in the recent polls."

Earlier, the Chief Election commissioner Nasim zaidi had said that they will soon hold an all-party meeting in which credibility of the EVMs, as per their administrative and technical safeguard system, will be discussed.

It may be mentioned that the question on the authentication of EVMs were raised after the assembly elections of five states, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur this year.

The allegations of the tampering of EVMs were made by the parties that include Congress, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Aam Aadmi Party.
