ED's big action in Sandeshkhali, raid at four places related to Shahjahan Sheikh

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided premises linked to TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh in Sandeshkhali on Thursday morning. Shahjahan Sheikh is accused of grabbing land in Sandeshkhali and surrounding areas. And many cases are also registered regarding this. According to the information received, ED has also registered a case under PMLA. ED is conducting raids at four places. Besides, some people associated with Shahjahan Sheikh are also being interrogated.

Let us tell you that TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh was arrested a few days ago. A few days ago, CBI had also raided the premises of Shahjahan Sheikh. According to officials, CBI officials had also gone to the areas near Shahjahan's residence in Akunchipara area of Sarberia in Sandeshkhali to collect evidence in connection with the attack.

Shahjahan Shaikh has been suspended from the ruling Trinamool Congress in the state. He was arrested on January 5 in connection with the attack on Enforcement Directorate officials by a mob at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal when the officials had gone to his residential complex in connection with a case related to the alleged ration scam.

Forensic and Enforcement Directorate officials also supported the CBI team in this raid. The 14-member team that conducted the raid included six CBI personnel and six central forensic officers, besides two Enforcement Directorate personnel who were injured in the attack on January 5.

Sukumar Mahata, Trinamool Congress MLA from Sandeshkhali, while talking to a television channel, had alleged that on January 5, he had called Shaikh requesting assistance in controlling the crowd, but "Shaikh had said that he was not in the area."

Shahjahan Sheikh and others are also accused of sexual exploitation and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali.
