Tiruvananthpuram: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapaddi Palaniswami won the trust vote of the Tamil Nadu assembly, on Saturday, with 122 legislators voting for him.

There were, however, 11 MLAs who had voted in favour of O Panneerselvam. Majority needed for the trust vote was 68.

Proceedings of the TN assembly had also witnessed violence erupting, earlier in the day, as DMK MLAs demanded a secret ballot in the floor test called by the TN CM Palanasami to prove majority of his government. Amid the chaos DMK’s Stalin alleged his shirt was torn off even as he said he’s going to meet the Governor to apprise him of the situation.

Congress leader Kapil Sibal has dubbed the whole episode as infortunate. "It’s unfortunate that such incidents took place in TN assembly, whatever speaker decides should be accepted by all," said Sibal.
