ED consulting lawyers on making AAP an accused in Delhi liquor scam
A day earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the ED that if a political party benefited from the liquor policy under PMLA, then why is that party not named in this case.
After the Supreme Court query in this regard, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is seeking legal advice on whether to make the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) an accused in the Delhi liquor scam.
According to the reports, the ED, which is investigating the scam, taking legal opinion on the matter.
A day earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the ED that if a political party benefited from the liquor policy under PMLA, then why is that party not named in this case.
While hearing the bail plea of former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, the court had asked the investigating agency - If the political party directly benefited from the liquor policy, then why is it not an accused or a party in the case? After the court's stance, the investigating agency is now taking legal advice.
ED had raided the house of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday itself. After about 10 hours of action, the investigating agency arrested Sanjay Singh.
After Satyendra Jain and Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh is the third big leader of AAP to be arrested by the central agency. Aam Aadmi Party is also protesting at BJP headquarters on Thursday morning in protest against the arrest of Sanjay Singh. The police have detained many people.
Sanjay Singh's name was included in the ED's charge sheet in January. ED had added Sanjay Singh's name in its charge sheet in January this year. In fact, Dinesh Arora, an accused turned government witness in the liquor policy scam, had said that a meeting was held in his restaurant between Sanjay Singh and bar-restaurant owners of Delhi.
