New Delhi: The residents of Delhi-NCR, who are forced to breathe in the poor health of the air, can get some relief from Sunday. Strong winds coming from the north-west direction will help in dispersing the pollutants present in the air.

This will result in a slight improvement in the air quality level. For the next two days, due to good sunshine and strong winds, the weather will remain clear and pleasant. However, this morning the AQI of Delhi has been recorded as 347, which is in the 'very bad' category.

Air Quality Index:

According to SAFAR, there has been a decrease in the cases of stubble burning since last week. A day earlier, incidents of stubble burning were recorded at 752 places in neighboring states. The PM 2.5 generated from this has a negligible share in the share of pollution.

A day earlier, only three per cent stake was registered. It is forecast that due to the increase in wind speed in the next 24 hours, the pollutants present in the atmosphere of Delhi-NCR will spread. Also, it will help in reducing pollution from the south-eastern part including Delhi.

Pollution in Delhi:

According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), the wind speed has been recorded at four to six kilometers per hour on Saturday. At the same time, the mixing height was 800 meters. The ventilation index has been recorded at 2500 square meters per second by the ratio of wind speed and mixing height. In the next 24 hours, the wind speed will increase to eight to 12 km per hour and the mixing height will reach up to six thousand square meters. This will help in reducing pollution. It is forecast that by Monday the wind speed can increase to a record 16 kmph. If the ventilation index is 6,000 square meters per second and the wind speed is less than 10 km per hour, it helps in increasing pollution.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi-NCR has got relief from pollution, except Gurugram, as compared to the last one day. The average air quality index of Delhi stood at 374. Last day before it was 380. Apart from this, Faridabad had 347 and Noida had 356 AQI. Gurugram's AQI was recorded at 324 a day earlier, while it was 345 on Saturday.
