Delhi: Massive fire breaks out at Hotel Arpit Palace, claims 17 lives
According to sources the fire was so massive that people didn't get time to escape from the hotel. Many people jumped out of windows to save their lives, leaving several injured.
New Delhi: At least 17 people died and nine others were reported injured after a fire broke out at Hotel Arpit Palace in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area early Tuesday morning.
The fire officials told media that they received a call at 4.30 am this morning after which 25 fire tenders were send for the rescue operations.
According to sources the fire was so massive that people didn't get time to escape from the hotel. Many people jumped out of windows to save their lives, leaving several injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of 17 lives in a tweet:
Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a fire at Karol Bagh in Delhi.
I convey my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
May the injured recover soon: PM @narendramodi

Fire officer Sunil Chowdhary told media that they have succeeded to subside fire and rescue operation is still on. Many people are reported to be trapped inside.
Injured have been hospitalized, while, fire department is still working on to save more lives.
The cause of the fire still not known.
