Coronavirus: UTs reporting weekly positivity rate between 5 and 10%- Health Ministry

There are 28 districts, including some districts in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, in which the positivity rate is between 5 percent and 10 percent.

New Delhi: In the press conference of the Ministry of Health on the status of corona and vaccination in the country, Joint Secretary Luv Aggarwal said that in the last 24 hours, close to 22,000 cases of corona have been registered in the country.

Even today, on an average, around 20,000 cases are coming in the country every day. Last week 56 percent of the covid cases have been registered from Kerala. There are 5 states where there are still more than 10,000 active cases.

Health Ministry on COVID-19:

He said there are close to 1,22,000 active cases in Kerala. Maharashtra has close to 36,000 active cases. Tamil Nadu, Mizoram and Karnataka also have high number of active cases. There are 28 districts, including some districts in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, in which the positivity rate is between 5 percent and 10 percent i.e. high infection rate. There are 34 districts which are registering weekly positivity rate of more than 10 per cent.

Time to take strict precautions:

He said that we need to be careful in the months of October, November and December. We need to be alert. We just don't think that covid is over. We have many challenges ahead of us and we need to work on them. We still have to maintain the covid behavior.

It is to be known that during the last 24 hours, 22,605 new cases of corona have been reported. This is a jump of about 20 per cent in a day. A day earlier i.e. on Wednesday, a total of 18,833 new cases were reported. At the same time, 315 people have died in the last 24 hours.

During this, 24,611 people have also become free from corona infection. This number is expected to increase further due to overcrowding during the festive season. In view of this, many states including UP, Maharashtra, Gujarat have issued guidelines.
