Coronavirus: India reports 40 cases of Delta Plus Variant so far

New Delhi: While the cases of Coronavirus infection are decreasing rapidly in the country, on the other hand the Delta Plus variant of Corona is increasing the concern. There is an increase in the cases of this deadly variant now.

Delta Plus variant:

According to government sources, this dangerous variant of Corona has now spread in 4 states. A total of 40 cases have been confirmed in these states so far. These states are- Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Sources say that this variant remains a matter of constant concern.

40 confirmed cases of Delta plus:

Earlier on Tuesday, the government had informed that 22 cases of 'Delta Plus' form of corona virus have been detected in India. Of these, 16 cases were from Maharashtra. Other cases have been reported in Madhya Pradesh and Kerala. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan had said that India is one of the ten countries where 'Delta Plus' form has been found so far. He said that 'delta form' has been detected in 80 countries.

COVID-19 new variants:

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Union Health Ministry said that the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) had reported that the Delta Plus variant is the presently of concern (VOC), characterized by rapid proliferation, growth in lung cells. It has characteristics such as a strong binding to the K receptor and a possible reduction in the 'monoclonal antibody' response.

Apart from India, the 'Delta Plus' variant of the corona virus has been found in the US, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Poland, Nepal, China and Russia. Cases of the 'Delta Plus' variant have been found in Ratnagiri and Jalgaon in Maharashtra and parts of Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.

Bhushan said the health ministry has issued an advisory regarding the public health response that Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala should initiate initiatives on the issue. Right now it looks very small in terms of numbers and we do not want it to increase.
