Coronavirus: India reports 1,79,723 fresh COVID-19 cases & 146 deaths

According to the Ministry of Health, 4,83,936 people have died due to covid-19 in the country so far.

New Delhi: There have been 1,79,723 new cases of corona virus infection in India and 146 deaths have been registered in the last 24 hours. According to the latest data of the Union Health Ministry, 46,569 people were also cured of the infection during this period.

Corona latest updates:

New cases of infection are 12.6 percent more than on Sunday. After the arrival of new cases, the total number of infected cases in the country has increased to 3,57,07,727, in which about 3.45 crore people have been cured. The recovery rate in the country is currently 96.62 percent. At the same time, after the new cases, the number of active cases has increased to 7,23,619, which is 2.03 percent of the total cases of infection.


64.72 percent new cases in 5 States:

According to the Ministry of Health, 4,83,936 people have died due to covid-19 in the country so far, which is 1.36 percent of the total cases found so far. 64.72 percent new cases have been reported from only 5 states of the country. Of these, maximum 44,388 cases were registered in Maharashtra, 24,287 in West Bengal, 22,751 in Delhi, 12,895 in Tamil Nadu and 12,000 in Karnataka. Maharashtra alone accounts for 24.7 percent of the new cases.

Omicron Cases:

The positivity rate in new cases was recorded at 13.29 percent. At the same time, the weekly positivity rate is currently 7.92 percent. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 13.52 lakh samples were tested across the country on Sunday. Since the beginning of the pandemic in the country, more than 69.16 crore samples have been tested so far.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health, 4,033 cases of this variant have been reported, in which 1,552 people have also been cured. The highest number of infected with Omicron is 1,216 in Maharashtra, 529 in Rajasthan, 513 in Delhi, 441 in Karnataka, 333 in Kerala, 236 in Gujarat. So far, cases of Omicron variants have been registered in 27 states and union territories of the country. On Sunday, 410 new cases of Omicron were confirmed.
