New Delhi: Chinese spokesman denies Pak media reports on Kashmir issuehi: Pakistan which has not been tired of raising Kashmir issue at international fora and has always been backed by China suffered a set-back on Thursday when the latter, like the USA, opposed third-party mediation in the dispute.

Denying Pakistani media reports, Chinese foreign office spokesman Lew Kang said India and Pakistan should resolve the issue through bilateral talks. Pakistan media had claimed that China was fully in support of Pakistan’s point of view of solving the dispute by the United Nations or by third party mediation.

Recalling Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meeting in Newyork with Chinese officials on Wednesday he admitted that Sharif had discussed bilateral ties, regional and international issues. He had also talked on the Kashmir issue but he had not said what had appeared in the Pak papers.

“ China still believes that the two countries should short the issue themselves”, he said. China had even condemned the Uri attack by terrorists who had come from across the border and killed 20 Indian soldiers.

This has left Pakistan alone as American, French , British and leaders of other countries too have not supported that country’s views on Kashmir. All of them, in fact, have asked Pak to do more than what it has done to end terror.
