Chandrayaan-3 Live Updates: Moon landing will start around 5:47 pm today

Chandrayaan-3 Live Updates: Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Chandrayaan-3 moon mission is now preparing to land. If all goes well, the Vikram lander will make a soft lunar landing at 6.04 PM. Ahead of the launch, ISRO said it is ready to initiate the mission’s automatic landing sequence which is scheduled at 5.44 PM.

Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14. Before India, only the United States, Russia and China have achieved a soft-landing on the surface of the Earth's only natural satellite. If successful, India will also become the first nation to reach the celestial body's South Pole.

What does Chandrayaan-3 comprise of?

Chandrayaan-3 consists of an indigenous Lander module (LM), Propulsion module (PM) and a Rover.

Wondered what tests will the lander perform, here's your answer

The lander will perform these special planned tests:

Integrated Cold Test - For the demonstration of Integrated Sensors & Navigation performance test

Integrated Hot test – For the demonstration of closed loop performance test with sensors, actuators and NGC

Lander Leg mechanism performance test on a lunar simulant test be

From where will the mission be launched and other details in just 4 bullet points

  1. The mission will be launched by LVM3 from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota.
  2. The propulsion module will carry the lander and rover configuration till 100 km lunar orbit.
  3. The propulsion module has Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE) payload.
  4. It will help to study the spectral and Polari metric measurements of Earth from the lunar orbit.

You cannot miss former director of ISRO's message on moon mission

Former director of ISRO Dr Surendra Pal said, "I am confident just like the ISRO scientists that we will do much better because a lot of changes have been done in comparison to Chandrayaan 2...A lot of algorithms have been changed...Absolute calibration is done. The Lander has the capacity to hover. The landing area has been increased from 2.5 km to 4 km..."
