New Delhi: Amidst the weakening of the second wave of Coronavirus infection in the country, revised guidelines have been issued for vaccination. In the new guidelines, it has been said that the allocation will be made by the Center to the states on the basis of population, burden of infection and speed of vaccination. It has been said in the guidelines that if the wastage is high, then it may affect the allocation to the states.

Revised guidelines have been issued a day after the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Monday, the PM had announced that the central government would provide free anti-corona vaccines to all adults in all states from June 21.

Govt issues new vaccination Policy:

There is a rift between the Center and some states over the wastage of the vaccine. Jharkhand (about 37%), Chhattisgarh (30%), Tamil Nadu (15.5%), Jammu and Kashmir (10.8%) and Madhya Pradesh (10.7%) reported wastage, according to health ministry data in May. It was said that these states are wasting much more than the national average (6.3%).

Within the population group of citizens above 18 years of age, States/UTs can set their own priority in the vaccine supply schedule. Several states were demanding an option to set priorities within age groups.

The price of a vaccine dose for private hospitals will be announced by each vaccine manufacturer and any subsequent changes will be notified in advance. Private hospitals can charge a maximum of Rs 150 per dose as service charge. State governments can monitor it.

In order to encourage production and new vaccines by vaccine manufacturers, domestic vaccine manufacturers have been given the option of providing vaccines directly to private hospitals as well.
