Second leg of the Budget session starts, PM hopes GST breakthrough

New Delhi: The second half of the Budget Session of Parliament will begin on Thursday (March 9) after a month-long break and will continue till April 12.

The session will witness the discussion on finance, appropriation bill, maternity bill and other important bills that were presented in the Parliament and the ruling party has requested the opposition to let the House function smoothly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing media before the session said that the session will discuss the matters that will benefit the poor.

PM Modi said, "Hoping to see breakthrough in GST, all states and parties have shown a positive approach."

He further stated, "There will be detailed discussion on the Budget and I am sure the level of debate and discussion will be of good quality."

Home Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to address the House on the anti-terror operations that were carried out in Lucknow on Tuesday last and also would speak on the pipe bomb blast in Bhopal-Ujjain train earlier on the same day.
