New Delhi: In the midst of the Corona crisis, the infection of black fungus, ie mucormycosis, is increasing rapidly throughout the country. After more than 9 thousand cases of black fungus have been reported across the country.

Black Fungus declared as Epidemic:

Many states have declared it an epidemic. UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Odisha, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand and Telangana have declared Mucormycosis an epidemic under Section-2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.

On the other hand, in view of the increasing cases of black fungus, the government is also trying to increase the availability of amphotericin-B, which is important in its treatment. According to doctors, most patients recovering from corona, especially diabetic patients are suffering from black fungus.

Situation in Bihar:

It has been declared an epidemic in view of the increase in the number of Black Fungus patients in the state. According to the Health Department, this order will remain in effect for one year.

With the Black Fungus epidemic declared, the department has made several regulations necessary. According to the health department, information of black fungus patients of all government and private hospitals will have to be given to the health department on a regular swim.

Uttar Pradesh :

The state government has declared black fungus to be an epidemic and listed disease. Along with this, the government has issued SOP for distribution of Amphotericin-B, a drug used in its treatment. Under this, this medicine will be issued only to District covid Hospital and Government Medical Colleges or Institutions.

Black fungus in Madhya Pradesh:

Black fungus has been declared an epidemic in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the best treatment of this disease will be made in the state. The availability of amphotericin B injection will be ensured for the patients.

The declaration of black fungus as pandemic has led to the implementation of guidelines for private and government hospitals. Apart from this, the supply of medicines required for treatment will be ensured from the center and state level. Currently, the disease is being treated in five medical colleges in the state.

Black fungus also damages the nose, eyes, sinuses, and sometimes the brain. There are very few cases of black fungus infection in humans.
