Bank accounts of BSP, Mayawati’s brother found with huge cash deposits

New Delhi: In a major crackdown by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Cash deposits of over Rs 100 crores in the account of Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rs 1.43cr in her brother Anand Kumar’s account in Delhi were found on Monday.

The huge amount was deposited at the Karol Bagh branch of United Bank of India.

ED sources said that they were on a routine enquiry in the bank when they detected huge cash deposits post-demonetisation in these two accounts.

It was also informed by the ED sources that Rs 102 crore was deposited in old Rs 1000 currency notes and Rs 3cr was deposited in old Rs 500 denomination notes.

It may be mentioned that BSP Supremo Mayawati is continuously criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move of demonetisation and called the initiative as a political gimmick ahead of the upcoming 2017 UP Assembly Elections.
