In a late-night encounter near the water treatment plant on Rampur Road in the Nagar Kotwali area, police clashed with suspects accused of slaughtering animals. Two suspects were apprehended as police seized a mini-truck, 800 kilograms of buffalo meat, a shotgun, a cartridge, a knife, and cutting tools from the scene. The police have filed a report against seven identified and six unidentified members of the gang. The search for other fugitive suspects is ongoing.

According to SP Abhishek Verma, the Nagar Kotwali in-charge Inspector Neeraj Kumar was patrolling the area with a police team when they received information about individuals slaughtering animals near the water treatment plant on Rampur Road. Acting on the tip, the police team reached the spot and surrounded the suspects. The criminals opened fire upon being cornered, and in the exchange, the Station House Officer and other officers narrowly escaped. The police retaliated, capturing Sumit from Kaili village in the Kharkhauda area of district Meerut and Shakib from Dhakka Ujhari village in the Amaroha area of district Amroha.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their crimes, revealing that their gang includes Shekhar from New Ashok Nagar in Hapur Kotwali area, Vinay, Chand Pahalwan from Kotla Mevatian, Saurabh Jatav from Khatoli village in Kharkhauda area of Meerut, and Bhushan Thekedar from Bhatipura village in Kithor area. The gang roams from village to village, poisoning animals and selling their meat to hotels for profit. The police have registered a report against named and unidentified criminals, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
