Amarnath pilgrim killed, 15 injured in bus gas cylinder blast

Srinagar: An Amarnath Yatri was killed and 15 others injured on Thursday in a gas cylinder explosion inside a bus on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said.

"A Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrim died and 15 others were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a vehicle bearing registration number UP83AT-0909 at Veesu near Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu highway," a police spokesman said here.

"Among the injured, nine are being treated at Emergency Hospital, Qazigund and seven others were shifted to District Hospital Anantnag where one, identified as Ganga Warm, a resident of Ganesh Nagar, Andhra Pradesh succumbed to his injuries."

The pilgrims were returning home after performing the Yatra when the accident took place. Locals were seen helping the injured at the site of the accident.
