New Delhi: Amar Singh, Samajwadi Party leader, seems to be a changed or a mellowed man now. For, he has stood behind Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in the current tussle in the first political family, although the latter has a few things in common with him.

“ I am with the chief minister”, he told media persons here on Wednesday who approached him to seek his views on the current goings-on in the state---change in state party leadership, change of chief secretary and reallocation of portfolios,

Singh, who had at one stage, made his grievance against Akhilesh known publically by saying that he has very little time for senior party members and threatened to resign on the issue and some others, went on to add “ I don’t have political but family relationship with the family”.

“ I have seen him grow as a child and reach the highest level ( of a chief minister). He is now not a leader of a group but leader of crores of UP-ites”, he said, perhaps, trying to make amends.

As if it was not enough to appease him, he said, “ I have made certain statements in the recent past which I should not have made”. The statement marks a contrast with the statement chief minister made this morning. In an indirect reference to him and some other “outsiders”, he said “ it is they ( outsiders) who are hampering the development of the state. There is no dispute in the family. Whatever fight is there, it is inside the government circles”.
