New Delhi. A passenger who flew on an Air India flight from Melbourne to Delhi on 6th January has a harrowing experience.

The said passenger Dr Ameeta wattal has written about this nightmarish flight on Instagram.

According to the passenger, they were booked on Air India flight AI 308 from Melbourne to New Delhi on 6th January,2024. The flight was supposed to leave at 9.30 am Melbourne time. Instead it left at 2.15 pm, over 4 hours late. All this while the pasenger were in the aircraft. Many economy class passengers, which included senior citizens and couples with children, were asked to leave the aircraft arbitrarily. They were offered of Rs 20 thousand each, along with taxi cost and free hotel charges. When many of them refused to accept the offer, the airlines called the Airport police, which was a move to intimidate the pasengers.

However, the explanation was given that there were issues with load. This was an absurd explanation because the Air India must have been aware of the number of passengers who had purchased tickets and the authorised load on a that each passenger was allowed to carry as they had been checked in by their staff.

The flight reached Delhi four hours late at 9pm. At the luggage belt the passengerd were told that except for the baggage of the crew, the baggage of all passengers who had travelled on the flight had been off loaded in Melbourne. The stunned passengers were asked to fill forms and were told that no one could claim compensation for more than Rs 50,000 on any of goods because it would come under customs. The airline also did not gave any commitment as when the luggage would arrive. They claimed that this was the first time they had witnessed that the whole luggage of all the passengers were offloaded at the airport.

The said passenger has said that they have seen such mismanagement and insensitivity by any airlines.
