Param Vir Chakra once said, "Either I will come back after hoisting the tricolour, or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will be back for sure." Nothing can ever match with the sacrifice the hero of our country make to keep us happy.

15th January is celebrated as Army Day in India. The day is celebrated in the form of parades and other military shows in the national capital New Delhi as well as in all headquarters. On 15 January 2020, India celebrated it's 72th Indian Army Day in New Delhi. Army Day marks a day to salute the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens.

The motto of the Indian Army is 'service before self' and its mission is to ensure national security and national unity, defend the nation from external aggression and internal threats, and maintain peace and security within its borders. The army chief gives away gallantry awards to soldiers and unit citations to different battalions for outstanding and sustained performance during operations and also peace time.

Today on the 72th Indian Army Day, 15 soldiers will be decorated with gallantry awards while 18 battalions will get unit citations.

A lady officer will be the Parade Adjutant for the first time in the history of the parade. A fourth generation soldier, Captain Taniya Shergil was commissioned into the Corps of Signals two years ago. The parade adjutant plays an important role in directing and conducting the parade.

Its salute is taken by the Indian Army Chief. In the year 2018, the 70th Army Day was celebrated, in which Parade's salute was taken by General Bipin Rawat.
