In a major success against the naxalites, security forces have gunned down 13 Naxalites in an encounter in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. According to the sources so far 13 bodies have been recovered in the encounter that took place on Tuesday in Korcholi forest of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh. Earlier on Tuesday, bodies of 10 Naxalites were recovered till late evening, but the operation was stopped as it was night.

After searching in the morning, the soldiers have recovered the bodies of 3 more Naxalites. After the encounter that lasted for about 8 hours, bodies of 13 Naxalites have been recovered so far. Let us tell you that from Tuesday morning there was a whole day encounter between Naxalites with the soldiers of DRG, CRPF, Cobra Battalion and Bastar Battalion. During this, there was heavy cross firing from both the sides.

After the encounter, police officers informed that an encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites sitting in ambush in the forest of Lendra village under Gangapur police station area of the district. This encounter lasted for about 8 hours. During the search operation started after the encounter, bodies of 13 Naxalites have so far been recovered from the spot. Along with this, security forces have also recovered automatic weapons like LMG and AK 47 from the spot. He told that a joint team of DRG, CRPF, Cobra, Bastar Fighters, Bastariya Battalion and CAF personnel has carried out this anti-Naxal operation.

Giving information about the encounter, police officers said that when the security forces reached the forest of Lendra village at around 6 am on Tuesday, the Naxalites opened fire on the security forces. After this, the soldiers retaliated in self-defense and opened fire. Meanwhile, after cross firing from both sides for some time, the Naxalites fled from there. After the Naxalites fled, when a search operation was conducted at the spot, bodies of 10 Naxalites including a woman were recovered from there. After this, the search operation was stopped as it was night. On Wednesday morning, when security forces once again reached the spot and conducted a search operation, bodies of three more Naxalites were recovered.

Security forces have recovered one LMG automatic weapon, one 303 rifle, one 12 bore gun as well as a large number of BGL launchers and other weapons and explosive materials from the spot. It is also feared that many Naxalites may be injured in the encounter. Let us tell you that Bijapur district is a part of Bastar Lok Sabha constituency. Where voting is to be held in the first phase of general elections on 19th April. Before this the security forces have achieved this big success.
