At least 10 people have died due to heart attacks at Garba events in the last 24 hours in Gujarat.

The youngest person among the victims was only 17 years old. More than 500 ambulance calls were made during 24 hours.

The government has also issued an alert and asked organizers to take all necessary measures, including ensuring that ambulances are available to take people to hospitals if they feel unwell.

A similar incident took place in Kapadvanj town of Kheda district, where while playing Garba in a program, 17-year-old Veer Shah suddenly fell ill and started bleeding from his nose. After this Shah was immediately taken to the hospital. Veer Shah's parents were celebrating at another event. After receiving the information, he reached the hospital, however by then he was declared dead. The cause of death was said to be heart attack.

When the people enjoying the program where Veer Shah was performing Garba, heard about the death of Veer Shah, they kept silence for two minutes. The organizers decided to cancel the event for the next day and many other organizers in Kapadvanj did the same.

Similar cases, including deaths of people above 20 years of age, have also been reported in Ahmedabad, Navsari and Rajkot.

The shocking thing is that in Dabhoi of Vadodara district also a 13 year old child died of heart attack. Vaibhav Soni was returning from a Garba program on bicycle, he fell and sustained minor injuries.

Vaibhav was taken to the hospital and some tests including X-ray were done and he was discharged. Vaibhav later complained of chest pain and his family gave him medicine and put him to sleep. When he did not wake up after a few hours, people took him to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Officials said it was not clear whether his heart attack was related to playing Garba or not.

The data from the Indian Council of Medical Research shows that more than 11% of people in India are suffering from diabetes, more than 15% are pre-diabetes. -are diabetic, more than 36% suffer from high blood pressure and more than 50% are obese.

All these problems cause problems in the arteries of the heart. The doctors say that most of these patients have evidence of coronary artery disease. The age of onset of coronary artery disease (plaque formation in the artery walls), high blood pressure and diabetes has decreased. Our population is young, but this is not very healthy.”

He said, "The other aspect is that if you do something that you are not used to and you are exposed to that kind of exercise then such incidents happen." The doctors advised that organizers of such events should keep automated external defibrillators that can help save lives in such situations and also have some people who are trained in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
