According to American media reports, 54-year-old actor Matthew Perry of the superhit TV sitcom "Friends" was found dead at his home on Saturday.

Law enforcement sources told the media outlets that Perry was found unconscious in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home and could not be saved.

Multiple media reports cited unnamed sources as saying there was no indication of foul play. It is worth noting that Perry was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on NBC's extremely popular "Friends", which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004.

According to reports, Perry struggled with painkiller and alcohol addiction for many years and also went to rehabilitation clinics on several occasions. In his memoir "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing," published last year, Perry described undergoing detox 65 times and spending nearly $9 million in recovery efforts.

Reports said that no drugs were found at the scene Saturday. It said Perry was found by his assistant, who called 911. Perry faced health problems including burst colon in 2018 due to drug use. This required a seven-hour surgery and the use of a colostomy bag for months thereafter. Perry dedicated 'All of the Suffers Out There' and wrote in the prologue, "I Should Be Dead."

Police sources said that an investigation had been launched into the matter. They also said that the cause of death could only be ascertained after the post-mortem examination.

It is noteworthy that along with "Friends", Perry worked in films like "Fools Rush In" and "The Whole Nine Yards". Talking about Friends, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer were seen as stars in this famous series.
