What is Scrub Typhus? Know symptoms and precaution

Scrub Typhus cases have been reported recently from some parts of the country with Himachal Pradesh alone accounting for 973 cases. Ten people have so far died of the disease.

What is Scrub Typhus?

Scrub typhus happen because of Orientia tsutsugamushi bacteria. It is an infectious disease. It spreads from the body of infected fleas that is chiggers to the human body through the bite of chiggers.

These are very small insects, mostly on the bodies of animals such as grasses, shrubs, rats, rabbits and squirrels. It is also called bush typhus. The common period of this disease is the rainy season.

Since it is an infectious disease so, when a healthy person interacts with an infected person then he can also get scrub typhus.

When we come in contact with bacteria, they reach in our blood even when we scratch or itch the area where the lice or insect has bitten.

Symptoms:

• Fever with 104-105 degree
• Headache
• Dry cough
• Pain in muscles
• unconsciousness
• Facing problem when taking breath
• Problem in liver

How to prevent:

There is not kind of vaccination right now but you can use these tips:

• Don't go in the jungle
• Don't lie on gra
• Don't remove your shoes outside
• Wear clean clothes
• Clean your pets
