New Delhi: Fears about the third wave of corona infection in India have intensified. Experts have warned about the peak of the third wave of corona in the country in the month of October. In the midst of this crisis of Corona, cases of another infection are being reported in the country.

Cases of a serious infection are increasing rapidly in some districts of Uttar Pradesh. Experts have identified it as 'scrub typhus' disease.

Scrub Typhus:

Scrub typhus is mainly a disease caused by bites of mites (small insects such as mites), if not treated in time, the infected can also die. Doctors say that these pests can arise due to lack of cleanliness, whose bite increases the risk of scrub typhus disease in people. People need to be very careful in places where cases of this infection are increasing. Let us know in detail about scrub typhus disease in the following slides.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), scrub typhus is a serious disease caused by bacteria called Orientia tsutsugamushi. Scrub typhus is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected chiggers (larval mites).

This disease is also known as bush typhus. Cases of this disease have been seen more in rural areas of Southeast Asia, Indonesia, China, Japan, India and northern Australia. People living or traveling in places where this infection occurs may be at risk of infection. If this disease is not treated on time, it can even be fatal.

Symptoms:

According to CDC experts, its symptoms begin to appear within 10 days after the bite of an infected insect. Patients may experience headache, body and muscle aches along with fever and chills.

At the place where the insect has bitten, the color of the skin becomes darker and the skin may be crusted. Some people may also notice skin rashes. As the problem progresses, patients can have problems ranging from confusion to coma. In severe cases, organ damage and bleeding can also occur. It can also be fatal if not treated on time.

Treatment:

Doctors say, the symptoms of scrub typhus are similar to those of many other diseases, which is why people often get confused in it. Depending on the symptoms, the doctor may order certain tests, based on which the infection is diagnosed.

If a patient is diagnosed with scrub typhus, he or she is usually given certain antibiotics, the dosage may vary depending on the age of the person and the severity of the condition. In case of severe disease, other drugs and other means of treatment may be used as needed.
