Consuming foods rich in purine increases the amount of uric acid in the body. The kidneys easily filter and remove this uric acid. But, if uric acid increases excessively then the kidneys are not able to filter it out properly and uric acid crystals start accumulating in the joints of fingers and toes and cause problems like gout. In such a situation, there is a need to reduce this uric acid in time.
