Non-fungible tokens or NFTs are in the news these days and a lot of companies are launching their NFTs. The new NFT created by telecom operator Vodafone is from the first SMS message sent over the phone. The world's first SMS 'Merry Christmas' was put up for sale online this week. As an NFT of this SMS message, the anonymous customer bought it for a value of around Rs 91 lakh.

Paris Auction House sold NFT

The most special and unique NFT was sold earlier this week by the Paris Auction House for a total of 132,680 ethers. Vodafone has said that the entire earnings from the sale will be donated to the United Nations Refugee Agency. The agency helps people who have separated from their homes in different parts of the world. Vodafone will thus not take advantage of its NFT earnings on its own.

The first SMS was sent in 1992

The NFT Vodafone has developed shows the world's first SMS sent to its network. The world's first SMS was sent on December 3, 1992, with the help of a phone call sent by programmer Neil Papworth on his partner Richard Jarvis' phone. The SMS, sent about 29 years ago, was only 15 characters long, and Neil wrote 'Merry Christmas' in it as it was sent during the festive season.

Copy of SMS to be given to the buyer

The first SMS was sent from Vodafone's network so the company has converted it into a non-fungible token. The customer who purchases the NFT will first be handed over a copy of the SMS and the communication protocol associated with it. In addition, a 'Certificate of Authenticity' will also be given to the customer. The NFT buyer will also be given a digital frame that will show an animation of SMS messages coming on the phone.

NFTs market is growing

The market for NFTs has been trading since 2017 and the market for NFTs has grown considerably by the end of 2021. Many companies have launched and are selling virtual NFTs for this blockchain technology this year. Those investing in digital assets see it as the future of ownership. He believes that soon, ownership from event tickets to homes will be given in the form of such baskets.

What are NFTs?

That is, copies of other digital items can be easily prepared, but NFT is the most different because of their unique digital signatures. Their digital rights can be purchased by paying cryptocurrency ether or dollars.

This video is a compilation video of several artworks created by Beeple. All these artworks have been digitally created and a bid of $69 million (about Rs 505 crore) has been made for them.
