Johannesburg: After losing the six-match ODI series 5-1 at the hands of India, South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) at the New Wanderers ground here on Sunday.

In a before-match blow to the home team, star middle-order batsman AB de Villiers has been ruled out of the three-match series due to a left knee injury.

Suresh Raina, after a long time, has returned to the Indian national side, while Kuldeep Yadav has been kept out of the playing XI.

Jaydev Unadkat and Manish Pandey have also been included in the team for the first T20I.

South Africa:

JJ Smuts, Reeza Hendricks, Jean-Paul Duminy (c), David Miller, Farhaan Behardien, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Chris Morris, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dane Paterson, Junior Dala and Tabraiz Shamsi.

India:

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (c), Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni (wk), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah
