Mr. Yogi, honeymoon is over, its time for delivery
Lucknow: After a relatively successful 2017, it is going to be a reckoning time for the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in 2018.
Yogi government has to face litmus test as, many observers feel, the honeymoon time is over and everyone is looking forward to delivery part of the government.
Happy 2017 for BJP Government
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power after 14 years with an overwhelming majority. Yogi's initial schemes like ban on illegal slaughter houses and anti-Romeo squad were welcomed by people but challenge is much bigger now.
Few partially-fulfilled promises made by the government like pothole free roads were also ignored by people but not in 2018 for sure.
BJP's win in the local body polls was the consolidation phase for Yogi Adityanath as he was involved in the election campaigns in a full swing. And now when the leader has gained momentum, it is important for him to deliver and cater to the expectations of people.
High expectations in 2018
CM Yogi Adityanath made several promises for the welfare of people, especially the youths. Employment, development and law and order are few key points of the Yogi government which would be under focus in 2018 for BJP's political ascendancy in 2019 general elections.
But unlike the previous promises which, in a way, failed in the test of times, BJP should have to fulfil the promise it made in the larger interests of the common man. The non-performance of bureaucracy, the issue raised by none other than Yogi himself during his address in the IAS week, remains another challenge for Yogi and his government because it commensurates with the delivery, a known fact.
