Sultanpur: The list of disgruntled BJP leaders is getting longer with possible addition of Sultanpur member of Parliament Varun Gandhi whose left-handed comments have been posing discomfiture to the central leadership.

The Bharatiya Janata Party which already has the bevy of dissenting voices in Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shorey and Shatrughan Sinha, the latest addition being Varun Gandhi, the son of late Sanjay Gandhi and Union Minister Maneka Gandhi. It is more than a couple of occasions that he, despite being cautious in following the party line, made some acerbic observations, certainly not to the liking of the saffron party.

Varun, who is on three-day tour of his parliamentary constituency, surprised the people at a public gathering when he said, "I should have been a 'Baba' instead," thereby making a sarcastic comment on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He even made some oblique remarks on the senior leadership of the party over action against Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Going a step further, the BJP MP said his never engaged himself in the politics of demeaning others.

It was not the first time that the young BJP leader spoke out his heart and tried to call spade a spade. It is well known that he has not been comfortable in the BJP and there were rumours of his hobnobbing with the Congress, though denied by him.

It may be recalled that Varun Gandhi has changed his Lok Sabha seat from Pilibhit, which he had won in 2009, to Sultanpur in 2014.
