Virat also praised actor Varun Dhawan’s character, says Mauji was superb, but Anushka’s performance as Mamta stole his heart. He writes “ability to be so quiet yet so powerful and impactful makes you fall in love with her. SO PROUD my love.”

Directed by Sharat Katariya, Sui Dhaaga tells the story of a small town couple who decide to start their own tailoring business despite of several obstacles. Varun plays the role of a happy tailor Mauji and Anushka plays Mamta, his long-suffering wife. In the beginning Mauji is shown as a salesman who sells sewing machines. Though Mauji is a hard worker yet unable to find work as a tailor, and gets humiliated all the time by his masters. Mamta wants him to start working on his own. They start to run their own small scale business with dignity and respect.

The film already got some free publicity when memes of Anushka Sharma went viral. 'Sui Dhaaga challenge' also contributed in film publicity as several stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and others posted their videos attempting to thread a needle.
