The FIR was lodged in Lucknow on Friday by Amit Kumar Tiwari, who is the secretary of Thakurdwara Trust of Ayodhya.

Earlier, Kunder, in a series of tweets had stated, "Hoping a goon will stop rioting once he’s allowed to rule is like expecting a rapist to stop raping once he’s allowed to rape (sic).”

In another tweet, he made fun of the Bharatiya Janata Party's decision of naming Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, writing, "Going by the logic of making a goon as CM so that he behaves, Dawood can be CBI director. And Mallya - RBI Governor (sic)."

It may be mentioned that Shirish Kunder is the husband of renowned choreographer and director Farah Khan.
