What Shahrukh Khan owes to Aamir Khan for his superstardom!

Mumbai: Aamir Khan has been in mainstream cinema for more than 28 years now and during the period, he has delivered some extraordinary movies that will be remembered for his fine work for decades. But in the same period, he rejected some projects which later turned out to be the most iconic movies of his contemporary Shahrukh Khan's career.

The rejections could be described as a few blunders committed by Aamir Khan as those movies helped SRK become the 'King Khan' of the industry.

List of such movies is given below:

1 - Darr: A Violent Love Story (1993)

The psychological thriller was originally offered to Ajay Devgn by Yash Chopra, but he did not show any interest. Subsequently, it went to Aamir Khan who decided not to play a negative character so early in his career.

SRK, however, saw this as a golden opportunity and went on to prove his acting mettle in the industry. Darr was the film which not only gave a boost to Shahrukh's career but also established a close bonding between him and Yash Raj banner that exists even today.

2 - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)

If Darr gave a boost to SRK's career, DDLJ is still described as his best film of all time. But shockingly, it was also rejected by Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist. This film, however, established an apparent rivalry between the two stars, as in the same year, Aamir's Rangeela hit the screens.

It is said as Shahrukh and DDLJ won several awards but adverse to Aamir's expectations, he did not receive a single award for Rangeela. Subsequently, he stopped attending award shows.

3 - Josh (June 2000)

Aamir Khan also rejected the role of 'Prakash' in the superhit movie as he found it too small as compared to the role of 'Max' which was being played by Shahrukh Khan. Later, the character was played by Sharad Kapoor.

Since then, no such opportunities have come when any producer has thought of casting the two mighty Khans together in a movie.

4 - Mohabbatein (October 2000)

In the same year, Shahrukh Khan's another iconic movie released and won the hearts of millions across the globe. If sources are to be believed, the Dangal star had turned down the musical romantic drama, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in leading roles.

Well, the film is still remembered as one of the finest works of SRK.

5 - Swades (2004)

Before approaching Shahrukh Khan, Ashutosh Gowarikar, who had earlier worked with Aamir in 'Lagaan', offered him the project, but Aamir rejected it describing it as boring.

Well, the film is also considered one of the finest works of the King Khan till date.

Aamir Khan is currently basking on the success of his recent release 'Dangal' which not only succeeded at the box-office but has connected well with the audiences. According to the latest report, the film is expected to cross Rs 100 crore mark by the Christmas day.
