Preity Zinta's cousin kills himself over matrimonial dispute

Shimla: In a shocking incident, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta's cousin Nitin Chauhan shot himself to death with a pistol in Shimla due to matrimonial clash.

The police arrested Chauhan's wife and in-laws on Sunday for deliberately inspiring him to end his life.

According to a senior police official, the deceased's wife Pravin Dulta (34) and her parents Prem Singh Dulta (60) and Sulochna Dulta (55) have been arrested after a suicide note recovered held them responsible for the suicide.

Police told about recovering two suicide notes, one from the car in which he was found dead and other at Chauhan's residence, in which he blamed his in-laws for committing suicide.

The police officials also said that Preity Zinta's cousin had wrote in his suicide note that his in-laws were not allowing him to meet his children and were threatening him of lodging a false case against him.

Child rights activist Kumar V. Jahgirdar said on Saturday that Preity Zinta's cousin took the extreme step just a day before a court hearing in his matrimonial dispute.

"It is very shocking that nobody came in support of Chauhan who was missing his son badly. His wife had lodged false case against him to maintain a distance between the father and his children," Jahgirdar stated.

Chauhan, who belonged to Shilat village in Kotkhai tehsil of Shimla district, was dwelling in Shimla for the past few years with his family.
