Is Pahlaj Nihalani’s stint over in CBFC?

Mumbai: No one in the film fraternity stirred up hornet’s nest in a way Pahlaj Nihalani had done. Many directors in our Hindi cinema had problems with their film releases and those, whose film got released, struggled to get their flicks free from unnecessary cuts and mutes.

Some of the films like ‘Baywatch’, ‘Udta Punjab’ had many cuts which left the filmmakers unsatisfied and the brawl between CBFC and film directors got increased to a high extent.

The film ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ never reached Indian theatres. All thanks to the way of functioning of Mr. Pahlaj Nahalini. But now, there is some relief to the Indian film fraternity as social media is buzzed with the news about replacement of Pahlaj Nahalini as CFBC chief. Sources revealed that meeting would take place on July 28, 2017 at Thiruvananthapuram to take decision on the issue.

According to the sources, prominent names like director Madhur Bhandarkar, Chandraprakash Dwivedi and Prakash Jha are considered for replacing the Pahlaj Nahalini’s post. Only time will tell, what is going to be the end result of this buzzing information.

Pahlaj Nihalani, however, denied the same, saying, he has not heard of any plans by the government to remove him from the post. However, he says he is ready to step down if he is asked to do so.
