Police to Record Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Statement: Sushant Suicide Case

The Mumbai Police will  record the statement of Bollywood filmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali as part of their probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Mumbai Police to Record Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Statement

The Mumbai Police will record the statement of Bollywood filmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali as part of their probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Bhansali has arrived at the Bandra police station.

Police have also recorded the statement of Sanjana Sanghi, the co-actor of Sushant in ‘Dil Bechara’, the actor's last film which will be released on a digital platform on July 24.

Sanjana was quizzed at the Bandra police station for nearly seven hours.

Mumbai Police:

The Mumbai Police have so far recorded the statements of at least 29 people in connection with the case that sent shockwaves across the nation.

Reports suggest that Bhansali will likely be interrogated about his plans to cast Sushant Singh Rajput in his 2013 release 'Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela', which could not happen due to the late actor's contract with Yash Raj Films.

“We will ask Sanjay Leela Bhansali to record his statement this week in connection with the suicide case of Rajput,” the officer said.

The 30 persons, whose statements have been recorded so ar include Rajput’s family members, actor-friend Rhea Chakraborty, casting director Mukesh Chhabra and Yash Raj Films’ casting director Shanoo Sharma, he said.

Sushant Singh Rajput:

Rajput, 34, was found hanging at his Bandra apartment on June 14.

Rajput starred in films such as Shuddh Desi Romance, “Raabta”, “Kedarnath” and “Sonchiriya”. But his most prominent role came as cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the 2007 biopic, “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”. His last screen appearance was “Chhichhore”, directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

His last upcoming movie ‘Dil Bechara’ along with Sanjana Sanghi is offical hindi adptation of ‘The Fault In Our Stars’. It is set to release on 24th July on digital platform, Disney+Hotsar.

Dil Bechara, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, Javed Jaffrey, and Milind Gunaji. It will release on July 24, 2020 on Disney+ Hotstar.

Sushant died by suicide on June 14. The tragedy sent shockwaves across the film industry and country.
