In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, the spotlight was on the ever-charming duo of Kajol and Rani Mukerji. Known for their on-screen chemistry in the iconic film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,' directed by Karan Johar, the actresses delved into a surprising revelation about their relationship during the shooting of the film.

Karan Johar initiated the conversation by recalling the apparent distance between Kajol and Rani during the making of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.' He questioned the nature of their friendship at that time, prompting Kajol to respond with a candid "Not really." Karan, reminiscing about the puzzling dynamics between the two cousins, remarked, "I used to wonder, what kind of families don't talk to each other, they're cousins."

Kajol shed light on the situation, describing it as an "organic distance" that existed purely in the professional realm. "It was an organic distance, honestly. Where work is concerned, both of us liked where we were," she explained.

Rani Mukerji, reflecting on her perspective, admitted to feeling a noticeable distance when working with Kajol. She elaborated, "Of course. I have known her as a kid; she was always Kajol didi for me. It was a bit strange. You grow up and you grow apart, you don't really know the reason why." Rani continued, revealing the geographical and familial factors that contributed to their divergence, stating, "We didn't meet that often; Kajol didi used to stay in Town, and we were in Juhu. Me and Tanisha were much closer, and we still are. Kajol didi was always closer to the boys of the family - my brother and Samrat da. Yeah, it was a bit strange."

The turning point in their relationship, as disclosed by Rani Mukerji, occurred after the unfortunate loss of their fathers. "More after our dads passed away," she revealed. Kajol chimed in, emphasizing the organic nature of their reconnection, stating, "It's just an organic thing." Rani elaborated on the impact of shared loss, saying, "As families when you lose your loved ones. I was close to Kajol's dad (Shomu Mukerjee). When you go through tough times and losses, that's when everybody comes closer."

In a heartwarming twist, the two actresses, once distant on-screen co-stars, have evolved into close friends off-screen. Frequently photographed together at the annual Durga Puja festivities hosted by their families in Mumbai, Kajol and Rani Mukerji's journey is a testament to the enduring nature of relationships, transcending the reel world to find genuine connections in real life.
