Foreign Media tags Akshay Kumar as 'Bollywood Banker'

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who has become a hit-machine, has been dubbed as 'Bollywood's banker' by foreign media.

Khiladi Kumar has delivered back-to-back hits at Bollywood Box Office. Interestingly, his recent films which stormed Box Office have also got critical acclaim.

"Akshay Kumar is Bollywood's banker, churning out hit after hit, including Rustom, Airlift, and the Jolly LLB franchise," a report in Variety magazine stated.

According to Variety, the filmmakers of 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' have decided to release their film in non-traditional territories such as Japan and Chile. The same can play a game changer in the international market.

"The Shree Narayan Singh-directed film is "looking to go beyond Indian cinema's traditional international market," reports Variety.

Usually, Bollywood films comprise some 50 territories including USA (where Baahubali 2 made over Rs. 100 crore, the first Indian film to do so), UK, the Gulf countries, Australia and New Zealand. The makers of 'Toilet...' are set to expand the number to 70 territories.

Bollywood Box Office is going through the worst phase with B-town biggies failing to deliver at Bollywood Box Office. Trade pundits are hoping Akshay Kumar's 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' to come as a saviour.
