'Captain Cool' Mahendra Singh Dhoni is celebrating his 39th birthday today. The wicketkeeper-batsman, who is regarded as one of the most successful captains of the Indian cricket team, has been away from the cricket field for nearly a year, and yet conversations about his return, or future retirement have never died out.

Such is the stature of the man known by the moniker ‘Captain Cool’ that fans continue to wait with bated breath and hope that they would get to see Dhoni donning the Indian jersey at least one more time.

As cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni turned 39, celebrities across India took to Twitter to wish ‘Captain Cool’.On this special occasion, West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo on Monday (July 6) released a new song as a birthday gift for 'Captain Cool'.

Titled 'Helicopter 7', the song's lyrics go as follows: "MS Dhoni, number seven, MS Dhoni, number seven, all of Ranchi shouting Dhoni, all of India shouting Mahi, all of Chennai shouting Thala, MS Dhoni is a world-beater". The lyrics of the song highlight the achievements of Dhoni, including all the ICC trophies.

Anirudh Ravichander, Rahul Dev, S Thaman and others took to Twitter to wish MS Dhoni on his 39th birthday. Happy b’day Mahi Bhai. Wish you good health and happiness always. God bless you,” skipper Virat Kohli tweeted.

“Happy Birthday Youngster! Have an absolute blast Legend,” Indian team coach Ravi Shastri tweeted.

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander remarked that Dhoni is “an emotion.” He took to Twitter and wrote, “Happy birthday dearest #7 You are an emotion”

“Here’s wishing an extraordinary sportsman, human being & patriot, a very Happy Birthday,” Rahul Dev said via Twitter.

In addition, Ravi Kishan, hailing MS Dhoni as one of the best in the world, wished the cricketer on his birthday.

Shweta Pandit, who shares her birthday with Dhoni, wished the 39-year-old cricketer. She posted a picture of herself and Dhoni.

Furthermore, Arunraja Kamaraj too wished the “coolest captain” a very happy birthday.

BCCI:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wished Dhoni on his birthday by tweeting a 70-second video which is a compilation of some of his monstrous sixes.

"Let’s celebrate Dhoni's birthday by revisiting some of his monstrous sixes!," tweeted BCCI.

BCCI called Dhoni as one of the greatest captains of all time and an inspiration to many. Dhoni made his international debut for India during a One-Day International (ODI) match against Bangladesh in December 2004. He made his Test debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka in Chennai.
