With barely a few months to go for the state assembly polls, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has come out with yet another sop in the form of ‘relief’ in cash.

Under the plan, the state government would be transferring cash in the accounts of the intended beneficiaries in lieu of the unfulfilled schemes.

According to the sources, the state government feels that given that hardly a few months are to go for the polls, it will not be possible to implement the schemes like distribution of tablets and Annapurna Food Kit.

‘’Model code of conduct may come into effect in the state in October…there is very little time to float tenders for these schemes and hence the decision to transfer cash directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries,’’ said a senior government official here on Thursday.

The plan might be launched from Friday, sources said.

The Congress government had earlier announced several sops for the people including free electricity.

Recently, Gehlot government had announced to provide cash to 1.33 crore women in place of smart phones.

To complete the promises Gehlot government is planning to launch ‘rahat in cash’. According to some media reports it will start by 16 June from the capital of Rajasthan. During this, CM will transfer Rs176 crore as lumpy compensation to the 42 thousand cattle herders.
