In a recent visit to the Greater Noida campus, Greg Joswiak, Apple's Senior Vice President for Worldwide Marketing, expressed awe at the achievements of Galgotia University students enrolled in the iOS Student Developer programme. The sprawling Galgotia University campus set the stage for showcasing innovative mobile applications that captured the attention of the tech industry luminary.

Joswiak was particularly impressed by the new iOS Development Centre at the heart of the private university. The unconventional layout, resembling a corporate office rather than traditional classrooms, fosters an environment where faculty can seamlessly interact with students. This unique setup encourages collaborative learning and innovation, aligning with the objectives of the iOS Student Developer programme.

The programme, a collaborative effort between industry leaders and academic institutions, aims to cultivate high-caliber iOS talent across India. Originating as a pilot initiative at the SRM Institute of Technology in Chennai, it has expanded to Galgotias University and Chitkara University in Chandigarh.

During the visit, Vashishta Agarwala of SRM demonstrated "Circles," a mobile application designed to facilitate group travel planning. Galgotia University teams showcased their diverse array of apps in various stages of development. Notable projects included "Sakhi," an app aiding women in tracking their periods and addressing related concerns, and "VibroPlay," a music learning app designed for individuals with hearing challenges.

Joswiak commended the students for their articulate presentations and strategic use of modern technologies. Despite the limited development time, the students showcased impressive competence, leaving a lasting impression on the Apple executive.

Joswiak emphasized the significance of iOS as a global platform driving the app economy. Recognizing the need to fulfill development requirements within India, Apple has prioritized the Student Developer programme. Joswiak expressed confidence that the participating students would become proud representatives of iOS development, contributing to the platform's growth and innovation.

Students in the programme gain access to Mac computers, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches for development and testing. Additionally, they leverage learning resources from Apple and industry best practices from Infosys, enhancing their skills and knowledge in iOS development.

Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, highlighted the enriching experience of working with Apple. He emphasized the far-reaching impact of the iOS development centre on teaching and learning pedagogy throughout the university, fostering a global outlook among students.

Joswiak acknowledged the importance of industry feedback in evolving the programme. Beyond providing internships and roles for students, industry partners contribute to shaping the future of iOS development. While quantifying the success of the programme may be challenging, Joswiak emphasized Apple's commitment to the quality rather than the quantity of projects coming out of the initiative.

The success story of the Circles app and the overall excellence demonstrated by Galgotia University students underscore the positive impact of the iOS Developer Programme. These students, with their high-quality projects, are poised to become influential contributors to both the development centres and the iOS platform, marking a triumphant success for Apple's investment in nurturing India's tech talent.
