In Ernakulam, Kerala, the country's most educated state, unemployed youth were seen queuing up for peons’ job in government offices.

Tough the qualification was seventh pass, those in the queue included engineers and B.Tech degree holders.

An engineer who came to give cycle test for peon said, it is a safe job with no risk like continuous driving or food delivery platform. There is no danger of losing the job.

The surprising thing is that bicycles are no longer a mode of transport in this service, yet this rule has not changed. 101 candidates passed the cycling test. On the other hand, Kerala has the highest literacy rate. This state has been number one in terms of education for the last many years. The literacy rate here is more than 92 percent. After this comes the number of other states.

The basic salary of a peon in Kerala is around Rs 23,000 per month. For many B.Tech holders appearing for the cycling test, a small job in a government office is less risky and more secure.

This is much better than working in online food delivery services or big tech companies for around Rs 11,000 per month. K Prashant, a resident of Kochi, has a diploma in banking and runs a cafe. 'If we are posted in KSEB (state electricity company), the salary will be even higher, above Rs 30,000,' he said.

With the increasing population, the problem of unemployment is continuously increasing in the country. It is not possible to provide jobs to such a large population on the basis of their qualifications.

Many youth become victims of depression every day due to not getting a job. Because of this, they are forced to do any work to run the household. Most of the youth are in search of a secure job, but as time passes and they do not get a job, their frustration increases.
