HC declares BEd, DEd students eligible for Asst Teacher vacancies

Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court on Monday directed the Basic Shiksha Parishad to allow the BEd (special education) and DEd (special education) degree holders to apply for the 12,460 Assistant Teachers posts in lower primary schools of the state.

Fixing January 30, 2017 as the next date of hearing, Justice MK Gupta directed that in case a BEd (special education) degree holder applies for appointment of assistant teacher in primary schools, he/she should be permitted to appear in the selection in pursuance of the impugned advertisement.

The petitioner, Sarita Srivastava, has filed the writ petition with a plea that in the impugned advertisement, the said qualification has not been included as a valid qualification to entitle a person to participate in the election.
