The contribution of women in India's emerging startup culture has been increasing rapidly.

Although in the initial phase only men were seen as the founders of startup companies but now the number of women entrepreneurs has also risen substantially and they are achieving heights.

With this, the number of women in startup companies has increased more than in corporate companies and are serving from entry level positions to CEOs. According to Wiser's recently released Women in India's Startup Ecosystem report, the number of women-led startups in India has grown by 18% in the last five years.

17% women's startups in 100 million dollar club

There were about 6,000 startups in the country during the year 2017, out of which 10% were of women founders, which increased to 80,000 in the financial year 2022. During this period, a total of 105 startup companies transformed into unicorns and joined the $100 crore club, out of which 17% were women's startups. With this, the funding of these startups has also increased by 20%. Along with this, 72% women who have 10 years of experience are also involved in startups to improve their career.

Startups funding increased by 20%

Startups funding in 2017 was $5.9 billion, of which 11% went to women-owned startups. Funding in these startups has increased by 20% with funding increasing to $1.9 billion in fiscal year 2022.

Beat corporate companies in appointment of women

In startups where women are the founders, the appointment of women in top positions is 2.5 times more than in companies run by men. 23% of women are employed in companies run by male entrepreneurs, while this figure is 48% in women's startups. Talking about corporate, out of the total 8,60,000 appointed in startups in the year 2022, the number of women employees was 35%. Whereas in corporate companies this number was only 19%. At the same time, 32% women are appointed on the post of manager in startups while 21% are appointed in corporate companies.
