Amidst the festive season and the increasing cold, the demand for onion has started to rise suddenly. It can also be said that there is some relation between elections in India and onion prices.

Onion prices have increased significantly in the last five days amid the battle for assembly elections in five states (Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Telangana).

Due to this, common people are very worried but the parties in power are most worried, while the opposition got the issue while sitting.

If the data is to be believed, the price increased from Rs 35 to Rs 70 per kg in just five days and now onion is available at Rs 80-100 per kg in many states of the country. The price is expected to go up to Rs 120 to Rs 150 per kg in the next few days, according to the experts.

Hoarding is being said to be the main reason for rising onion prices. Onion prices increase almost every year to earn more profits during the festive season.

Housewives say that the rising price of onion has had a bad effect on the kitchen. The flavor of onion has started disappearing from food. Onion in salad is proving to be a distant dream.

According to sources, the government has a stock of 5 lakh tonnes of onion, of which 2 lakh tonnes have been sold.

The process of purchasing 2 lakh tonnes of onion has been started. Apart from this, the government has taken a big step and increased the export price of onion to $800 per ton.

Due to this reason, less onion will be able to go out of the country. In such a situation, our country will have sufficient stock to meet the demand and the price will remain under control.

During June-July, when tomatoes became expensive, the Center took a big step and bought tomatoes cheaply from other states and sold them at lower prices in the becoming expensive states.

After this, as soon as the rains stopped, the prices automatically came under control. Now the government will again try to control the rising prices by adopting the same plan.
