Disney may soon sell its streaming business in India

According to the reports, Disney may sell some of its operations or both operations and assets in this deal. The deal is in its initial stage. There is not any official information whether the deal will proceed or not.

America's Disney is planning to sell its streaming business in India. According to some media reports, the company can sell its business to Gautam Adani, Kalanithi Maran, owner of Sun TV and some private equity firm.

According to the reports, Disney may sell some of its operations or both operations and assets in this deal. The deal is in its initial stage. There is not any official information whether the deal will proceed or not.

Disney is facing competition after Reliance entered in this field because now Reliance's Jio Cinema has this market more tough. Ambani's company Jio Cinema telecasts the Indian Premier League (IPL) for free on its platform.

First, IPL broadcasting rights were handled by Disney for which it charges. Declaring its results for the year ending March 2022, Disney claimed that it suffered a loss of Rs345 crore on revenue of Rs3,245 crore from streaming operations in India.

2021- 5390

2022- 6850

2023- 7300

It may extend to 9120 in 2025.
