On April 7, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the horrific 1994 Rwandan Genocide in the African country Rwanda, Delhi's Qutub Minar was seen bathed in lights colored with the flag of Rwanda. The memory of this horrific massacre is still fresh in people's minds. This is the reason why in memory of this massacre, Qutub Minar of Delhi was painted in the colors of the national flag of Rwanda. In this genocide that took place in Rwanda, people of the Tutsi community were targeted. About 10 lakh people were killed in this incident. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of this genocide, the Government of India has shown the sympathy and solidarity of the Government of India and the people of Rwanda by painting the Qutub Minar in the colors of the Rwandan flag.

Qutub Minar remained bathed in the colors of the Rwandan flag from 8 pm to 8.45 pm on Sunday night. On the occasion of the anniversary of the genocide, Mukangira Jacqueline, Rwanda's High Commissioner to India, was present along with representatives of the Government of India. In the last few years, relations between India and the African country Rwanda have become very close. PM Modi visited Rwanda in July 2018 on the invitation of Rwandan President Paul Kagame. More than three and a half thousand Indians and many Indian companies are contributing to the development of Rwanda.

The Government of India illuminated the Qutub Minar in the colors of the Rwandan flag to commemorate the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi community in Rwanda. It also sends a message that the entire world must unite in the fight against genocide and grave human rights violations and celebrate the culture of peace, tolerance and unity among people. Qutub Minar was illuminated in the colors of the Rwandan flag for about 45 minutes in the presence of representatives of the Government of India, the High Commissioner of Rwanda and his colleagues, members of the media and some guests from Rwanda.
