All India Football Federation executive committee member Deepak Sharma has been arrested by Goa Police for allegedly assaulting two female footballers. Earlier, AIFF had asked Deepak Sharma to stay away from sports related activities till the investigation of this matter is completed. Two footballers from Khad FC of Himachal Pradesh were participating in the Indian Women's Football League Second Division. They alleged that club owner Sharma entered their room on the night of March 28 and assaulted them.

They have also filed a complaint with the Competition Committee of the AIFF and the Goa Football Association. Apart from this, a complaint has also been lodged at Mapusa Police Station. Mapusa Police has arrested him under various sections including causing hurt, using force against women.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandesh Chodankar said, “AIFF executive committee member Deepak Sharma was called for questioning during the day after receiving a formal complaint.

Inspector Shitakant Naik of Mapusa police station said, "Deepak Sharma will be kept in custody overnight and will be produced in court for remand on Sunday."

Meanwhile, GFA president Caetano Fernandes said the association helped the victims lodge complaints at the Mapusa police station.

According to sources, in the complaint both of them said that Sharma was drunk most of the time and they were in danger of their lives from him.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had asked AIFF to take immediate and strict action against the official. Sharma is the general secretary of Himachal Pradesh Football Association, club owner and member of the executive committee of AIFF.

Here, two football players of Himachal Pradesh-based Khad FC, participating in the second division of the Indian Women's Football (IWL) League, had alleged that club owner Sharma had entered their room on the night of March 28 and assaulted them.
