NIA detains 11 ISIS suspects in late night raids in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained as many as 11 people with some explosives, arms fake currency and forged identity documents from various parts of Hyderabad in late night raids, officials said.

The detained people are suspected to have links with Islamic State (ISIS) and were allegedly planning attacks on vital installations.

The arrests were made from houses in Chandrayangutta, Mirchowk, Talabkatta, Bhavaninagar and Mogalpura.

What NIA officials said:

  • The NIA officials stated that the detained persons were under watch for over four months.
  • “After it became evident that the module had gathered material to prepare explosives and secure arms, it was decided to conduct the raid,” said the official.
