In a shocking turn of events, a 26-year-old man identified as Rishu Singh Gaur from Bidhnu in Kanpur attempted to kill his 29-year-old girlfriend, who was on the brink of marrying someone else, before turning the blade on himself at a local hotel in the Kaiserbagh police station area.
The tumultuous relationship took a violent turn when Rishu, grappling with the impending marriage of his beloved to another man, resorted to a desperate act. The lovers, posing as a married couple, checked into a hotel in Lucknow on Wednesday night. However, the situation escalated on Thursday morning when an altercation ensued between Rishu and the woman.
In a fit of rage, Rishu attacked the woman with a blade, causing cut wounds on her face and body. The horrifying incident took a darker turn as he then slit his own throat. The cries for help alerted hotel staff, who swiftly intervened and rushed the injured couple to KGMU Trauma Centre.
At the Trauma Centre, doctors attended to the victims, revealing the extent of their injuries. The woman, though with cut wounds, is reported to be out of immediate danger. On the contrary, Rishu's condition is critical due to the deep cut wound in his throat.
Preliminary investigations shed light on the troubled dynamics of the relationship. Rishu's unrequited love and his struggle to win her back clashed with the reality of her impending marriage. The attempted murder-suicide unfolded as a tragic manifestation of the complexities surrounding matters of the heart.
